Come join the Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee chapters of HFMA at the Region V Dixie Institute in beautiful historic Charleston, South Carolina!

This institute promises to be one full of informative sessions, as well as great networking events! We will start the meeting with a Charleston-welcome from the Mayor of the City, Joe Riley. Thornton Kirby, President of the SC Hospital Association will also welcome folks to our great State and give a brief overview of what’s on the horizon for healthcare reform.

We will have keynote speakers each day, including:

- Rocky Bleier, a combat wounded Vietnam Veteran and former member of 4 Super Bowl Championship teams with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rocky was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his Vietnam service. Bleier sees parallels between the challenges he faced in the past and the challenges all business people face in today's crowded, competitive marketplace.

- Charles Lauer, the past editor of Modern Healthcare and Neal Patterson, who is the award-winning author of solo ‘Around Alone’, racing yachtsman, and founder of an investment bank.

- Neal Petersen, PBS airs a documentary about his life – “No Barriers – the Story of Neal Petersen”, and he wrote the award winning auto-biography, Journey of a Hope Merchant. Petersen has faced many challenges in life and he always responded by looking for opportunities and solutions. His experience shows that imagination coupled with determination to achieve, can break through the toughest challenges. Neal completed the 1998-99 “Around Alone” , a 27,000 mi yacht race, 9 months at sea ~ alone, and in a boat he designed and built himself. In sharing his high-impact, unique and extraordinary adventure, Neal delivers a powerful message that “In Life There Are No Barriers – Only Solutions!”

Each day we’ll have three tracks geared at senior financial executives, revenue cycle leaders and an ‘other’ for everything else. We’ll have leading experts teaching these sessions, such as:
- Andy Majka from Kaufman Hall
- Mark Haly from the Haly Group
- Paul Duffy and Will Perry from Price Waterhouse Coopers
- Larry Tyler from Tyler & Company
- Karen Mihalik from the Cleveland Clinic
- Dr. Zebrowitz from Executive Health Resources

On Friday, we’ll have forum meetings over breakfast and we’ll have a CEO roundtable discussion on current events, with Mike Reardon from Greenville Health System, Matt Severance from Roper St Francis, Jim Pfeiffer from Self Regional and others.

There will be receptions each night at various locations of the hotel including the Palmetto Café, which offers an indoor and outdoor area, and the Herb Garden. Wednesday night, we’ll walk across King Street to the Riveria, where Rhett and Scarlett will welcome guests to our theme night event, called “Hollywood Comes To Charleston”, where we’ll have food native to the city and musical entertainment from Quiana Parler & Friends.

In recognition of the economic challenges we are all facing, there will be a ‘roll back’ to the prices from the 2005 Dixie! Registration fees will be the same as they were 5 years ago with member fees of $370 and non-members of $420, but be sure to register early to take advantage of discounted fees, and don’t wait because there will be a late fee charge added for registrations after January 15th.

There are exciting opportunities for our vendors, please click here for a viewable PDF with more information.

We look forward to seeing you all in Charleston February 16 – 19, 2010!
